The Audio program turns you PC into a spectrum analyzer if it's equipped with a sound card:

Alternatively you can also use a laptop with built-in audio processing for mobile data acquisition:

The Audio program continuously
monitors the input signal and computes its frequency spectrum.
Both frequency and time signals are displayed and can be watched
simultaneously.
The program has been used in a physics course to visualize the
time dependent frequency contributions of various musical
instruments (flute, electric guitar). With a microphone connected
to the sound input of a
laptop noise and whistles from the audience have
been analyzed. The display of the software was projected on the
wall of the lecture hall (using a large
area display) to give the
students direct response to their action.
Electrical
signals like the output of a photodiode have also been recorded
successfully using the Audio program.
